Background

I’m Frank, a Dutch music producer currently operating from Amsterdam. Let me tell you a bit about me and my background. I started on the bass, playing mainly punkrock and funk. Later on I discovered electronic music which caused me to start playing around on the computer. I began to explore more and more. A few years passed and I started playing LIVE sets, thus containing only my own material. During that time I also began my study at the Institute of Sonology, situated at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. It’s the interdisciplinary research in the field of electronic music and computer music, drawing upon disciplines such as acoustics, electronics, informatics, composition and psychoacoustics.

Following Sonology, and a bit of touring, I studied a year of E-Music at the conservatory of Amsterdam. It was largely focused on pop music. Songwriting and recording were daily business. I started to release music on various labels. Meanwhile I was performing at festivals like Awakenings and clubs like Watergate (Berlin) and Arma17 (Moscow). I was also asked to do mixdowns and music for projects and commercials.

I became a resident at VBX, hailing from Amsterdam. With VBX we have been touring all over the world. I have released two records on VBX including “Image Exposed EP” which has been on heavy rotation in clubs and festivals like Houghton and Sunwaves.
Teaching followed naturally. It’s fun to pass on knowledge and experience. Amsterdam has been my town since my twenties, and in 2018 I decided to move to Barcelona to broaden my horizon. Here I had my studio where most of the courses took place. After four years of Barcelona, I arrived back in Holland. Currently I have my studio at the Q Factory in Amsterdam.
